2021 was a crazy year for weddings, and it looks like 2022 will be even bigger! These are my top 2022 wedding trends that I absolutely loved in 2021! Let me know what you think!

Micro Weddings
Some people predict destination weddings for 2022, others predict backyard weddings. Personally, I love both! The main commonality between these two options that I love is that it is completely individualized to each couple! Each offers opportunities that can really showcase the couple’s style and can be as interactive or as relaxed as the couple is looking for. I also love how this offers an opportunity for the couple to really evaluate the guest list, helping the audience be filled with the couple’s best friends and family.
2. Natural Locations or Wall-less Tents
While this seems like an odd trend, this is a commonality that I loved! Ceremonies in epic locations are absolutely jaw-dropping, but open-air tents are also a great choice! The lighting provided by no-walls is just dreamy! Even Vogue predicts this as a trend in 2022. I’ve also photographed weddings where the ceremony was set to be mountainside, but because of weather, we put up an open-air tent. Always a great choice!

3. Neutral Wedding Colors
I absolutely love neutral colors, and so I am all aboard this wedding trend! I especially love neutral-colored bridesmaids’ dresses, as they photograph so well and work great on all body types! Even Martha Stuart agrees with neutral wedding colors, as long as you incorporate a pop of color! This provides great contrast and adds some contrast to the neutrals!

4. Multi-Day Events
This is a beautiful trend from 2021 that I loved! Previously all of the wedding activities would be scheduled on one single day. This new trend spreads out some of the activities into multiple days! This helps the couple and the attendees to really enjoy each and every one of the activities and events. What’s better than spending time with family and friends around a campfire? Or going for a nice hike through the mountains? While celebrating the greatest day of your life!
For LDS weddings I have even seen separating the Sealing Day from the Reception, including luncheon events. What a great day to really enjoy every minute of your wedding!
5. Blue Hour Emphasis
Blue hour is the thirty minutes to an hour after sunset, where the sky and outdoors are kind of blue. It’s not dark enough for stars but isn’t warm and bright. This provides an opportunity for moody and intimate photos. The aesthetic of these types of photos seems to be catching on, which I am over the moon about! Blue hour photos are so stunning!

These are some of the trends that I hope continue into 2022! Which one is your favorite? Any I left off of the list?
