FEATURED BIRD:  SNOWY EGRET

INTRODUCTION COMMENTS:  The Snowy Egret is in the wading group of bird; can be sighted wading and feeding in shallow water.

MIGRATION:  Generally migrates through Maricopa County during fall and winter months

COLOR:

  • Body plumage all white

  • Black Bill; Black Legs and Yellow feet

  • Breeding Condition: Long silky white plumage; upper face skin in front of eyes change from yellow to reddish color: feet change from yellow to orangish-yellow color

DIET:  Fish, Insects, Aquatic Vegetation, occasionally Rodents
